These Legs Don't Lie! Harumi's Legacy as the Strongest Mimic · review

I debated marking this "mixed feelings" because it seems like the series was canceled, and the first volume feels more like the prologue to a grand adventure than a complete story in its own right. Which is a shame, because it's pretty good! I might check out the webnovel; don't know if it's been translated properly or not. The gimmick is that this is sort of a workplace comedy where dungeons are run like companies. The monsters tempt adventurers in with treasure chests, and if the humans die their souls can be harvested. They both know what they're signing up for so there's kind of ahandshake agreement to let the dungeons operate because everyone profits off of it.

The main character is a newborn disposable monster (this is not an isekai btw) who accidentally gets abnormally strong and upsets the power balance which is inconvenient for everyone, humans and monsters alike who prefer the status quo.

I think what I like about this story is that the comedy is very dark but not really "edgy". It feels like a spoof of Dark Souls from a monster's perspective. The main character is human-like, I wouldn't call her evil but she is pretty hardcore. She likes cute things and is sympathetic towards humans who are nice to her but she doesn't hesitate to turn anyone else to hamburger. It's fun like that.

That's all! I don't regret reading it.
