It is a work of historical setting, with exquisite art. At first we are introduced to an unpleasant, hysterical and spoiled protagonist, but gradually both she and her relationship with Eiser improve, revealing that all is not what it seems and developing a high sexual tension between them. The hotel plot and the motivations of each of the characters are very interesting, as is each character's past. Both the period and the characters have a certain coherence and the individuality of the characters reflects an average or typical character for the period. I find the characters believable, each with their own strengths and flaws. Serena isarrogant and spoiled and acts accordingly while Eiser is cold and calculating, probably one of the most elegant and beautiful husband ever.
