Review of Sword Art Online: Alicization - War of Underworld Part 2
So it took basically 3 and a half seasons for Kirito to actually deal with any of his trauma, and I am absolutely beyond caring at this point. This half of the season definitely put a downer on things, and not just because Kirito eventually does come back and take over things again. We did have at least a minor point of ''oh, this is actually okay" with Bercouli's fight against Vector, but that was about it sadly. First of all - why the hell did Leafa's introduction into the world have her literally being raped by a tentacle monster? It was so unnecessary - therecould have been literally any other way to have her energy/life force drained by this women, but instead she gets partially stripped and giant tentacles with teeth bite her and drain her in intimate places - you can't convince me that this wasn't full on rape either as it's very heavily implied that one goes down below. In fact, Leafa's how introduction into the world just has her repeatedly assaulted and battered because she 'can't die' and this constant trauma seemingly has no effect on her in the 'real world'.
Also, for people who are so determined to save these AIs as they are 'real people' they sure do reference the 'real world' a lot and it just kind of annoyed me. Like, if you think these are people please don't diminish the world they have lived in, love and are fighting for by essentially saying it's fake.
On top of this, the ending makes a big deal about Kirito surviving because he should have died from the overload of his memory capacity, so the guy saves these memories instead of deleting them like he was asked. This annoyed me because it completely disregards the fact that Asuna survived as well in order to focus in on Kirito - she, too, managed to do this and he wasn't one-of-a-kind but two-of-a-kind and yet her achievement in doing this is completely forgotten about in order to make Kirito 'the special one'.
The whole season was kind of frustrating and wishy-washy, and I just didn't really care about it. Apparently, they just can't let Akihiko be properly dead, and the whole convoluted mess just didn't really do much for me. Also - not enough Renly. Enough said.
