Review of Tsukigakirei
I have been watching a lot of romcom lately, so it’s necessary to watch a serious romance for a change. Even though it’s romance in middle school, it could work just fine as high school romance. Romance dynamic in anime usually is between of a shy and/or quiet and a talkative characters. However, here both middle-schoolers are reserved and quiet. This made their relationship interesting and not the usual ones that are in anime. They don’t interact and talk as much as I think a couple should, but every time they hang out, it felt precious. Their late night texts were simple and repetitive, yetit’s just what I yearn for.
The drama mostly happened inside the classroom, which is the reason why I said that this show can definitely happen in high school. The gossiping, match-making, and love-triangles are familiar yet hooked me into the story. At some points I felt annoyed at some characters for their passiveness, but that just meant I’m invested and also it’s the character’s flaws.
One thing about the animation. The animation of the main characters was solid and actually made them look innocent. However, there were many times that the animators used CGI, and it’s pretty bad CGI.
Overall, it’s a beautiful romance that pulled my heartstrings. 7.5-8/10
