Review of Parasyte: The Maxim
Great show, good pacing, refreshingly capable and great main character (who carries the whole show). Shinichi is just the perfect foil for the parasites and vice versa simply because they are so different but still manage to understand each other better at the end, even though they explicitly say they don’t. I loved migi’s little monologues, what a cute little blob. He was a true hero, they make him quite different to others of his kind because of his curiosity, he managed to rise above being just a parasite, and being a true friend to Shinichi. Just like a lot of popular media, thisshow makes you think of many aspects of the human psyche and how it would work under something that threatens its survival. Parasyte explores those concepts in a neat and action packed story with a fairly simple execution and it seemed to have worked in their favor. It somehow manages to have a lot of genres without over complicating it or dragging it as well. There are a myriad of things i liked about this show but one of them is that it gave a very fitting and satisfying conclusion to the whole thing. It didn’t rush the ending.
My real rating is a 7.9, however i will not round it up to an 8 because i do think a 7 is a great rating (personally). the pros outweigh the cons and i thoroughly enjoyed it which i really didn’t expect before watching the show.
