Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero
Every once in a while, an anime pops out its head and shows that there are still places to go, Animes like Sword art online, Tokyo Ghoul, One punch man, No game no life and Attack on Titan. Where I'm not saying that this anime is better or worse then these it does show that the genre is far from peeking and that we should be excited to see what's to comes for the future of anime. This anime takes us on a brand new way of presenting fantasy, A man from the real world has been transferred to another world. WOW! Original Idea! While Ijoke this is one of my favourite concepts and I love seeing these whether it's trapped in a game like SAO or died and reincarnated in another world like, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! (Megumi the anime). I always jump into anime with no knowledge I don't read reviews or synopsis just look at genres, so I thought this was actually going to be about a someone playing an MMO and making a name for themselves but I'm not disappointed with this setting at all.
So who is Iwatani, Naofumi? Well he is the Sheild hero, Cursed to only use a shield and nothing else, though he is a smart guy who for reasons plays a villain that helps people kinda like a witcher always looking for compensation, the kinda person who helps in the background but poses as a threat, then again he doesn't have much of a choice for REASONS! (Watch it to find out, I find basically anything and everything as spoilers so I'm gonna try and avoid making any quotes) I like his character a lot and he has clear character development. Enough said.
What about his party? They are all great. What about supporting characters? They are written well and play their parts well as well. Will I hate the Villains? Some, but that's good I mean people like DIO!
Should I watch this is the most important question though. so should you spend your time with this show? I don't think you can go wrong with it I thoroughly enjoyed it and watched it over 2 days, where it's not my favourite anime and it's not changed how I'm gonna view things most things don't and that's fine. it's not a waste of time if you smile every once in a while. I think if you are the least bit interested dive head in with no info and see what you think. also, episode 1 is about 40ish minutes and the rest are all 23ish (Standard run time) though I honestly wouldn't have minded with they were all 40ish because it's a really fun watch.
Spoilers...
The Sheild evolutions are super good.
S2? Me hope.
That one episode with the dragon where that party member gets that thing done to them and your like oh no for a while then it's all like actually this. so the show is like Gott Ya. Don't know if other people were sitting there like yeah I already knew you were faking us and that you were gonna roll that back. (if you are confused and don't know what I'm saying. GOOD I'm avoiding spoilers)
