Review of Land of the Lustrous
This is really the first time I've been able to enjoy a 3D anime without being distracted by the CG. And that's a really good thing, for this show is something special. I highly value uniqueness, and it's here in everything from the piano music, to the stunning visuals, to the intriguing world and story. I have never felt like I did watching this show. It manages to have a light-hearted tone, while also being extremely haunting. The action is good as well. The pacing of the whole thing is very unpredictable (in a good way). I never knew what the focus would be fromepisode to episode. And, though it was not always what I wanted at that time, it always left me strangely satisfied in a way I didn't know I could be.
I think what really did it for me particularly is the lore of this world. We get just enough of a taste in the first season to crave more. I've got my fingers crossed that season two is on the way very soon!
