Review of Land of the Lustrous
A distant, but promising future. Houseki no Kuni. An anime which is set in a far future where humans no longer exist as one race, but as many different races. Some of these races live in the seas, and some live on the moon. Only one race of "human" still lives on land, they're called "gems." And they are a sentient group of rare gems, literally, which have taken on the form of humans. However they are being hunted by the people of the moon, which are respectably called "Lunarians." They want to use the gems as their cosmetics or tools. And for thousands of yearsthe gems have been in a constant "war" against the Lunarians. Our protagonist, Phosphophyllite, or "Phos" is one of the youngest gems. And this is where her story follows as she tries to find her place in this world.
Honestly, I've never quite seen an anime that was animated in 3D and 2D at the same time. It's quite a beauty to behold, specially in 60fps. The OST here is also amazing. And the OP is really, really good.
Overall I'd say this anime was amazing. It started out a bit confusing but slowly started making sense as the story progressed. I have to be honest too, this anime did a great job with it's pacing and utilizing only 12 episodes. I highly recommend you watch this if you like mystery, action type anime.
