This is a very nice story, overall. It's very relatable, even. There's not much to say, except to talk about how rushed it was in the last third, to the point of feeling practically abandoned. Characters are brought in and not explored. Backstory is referenced and not explored. Realizations are made, and no time is taken to adjust. The main point of conflict is really never properly investigated or talked about. It just "is". The main character has to make a decision that will result in transformation, and ... we really never see the result. We're just told, in the most technical sense, what it was.I won't go into detail so as to avoid spoiling anything.

Like I said in the beginning, this is a very nice story. It would be nicer, and probably a 9 in my book, if the author had written all of it. It's a positive sign that I want more, to be sure. But it is also a mark against it that this is due to incompleteness.
