Review of Akira

Definitely among my favorite movies I have ever seen. Every time I watch this movie it feels like a spiritual experience. Incredible detail in the art, gorgeous music, amazing voice acting, and still a movie that is nearly impossible to top even after almost 40 years since its release. While compared to the manga, the plot isn't as compelling, and is a bit hard to follow the first time you watch it, it is a movie that ever since I first saw it, I think about very often. The music is an especially compelling feature, I personally feel that I could listen to it allday. It's kind of strange, however, that through the entire movie, especially as a movie that created the Cyberpunk genre as a whole, that the soundtrack only has one portion with electronic instrumentation (electric guitar). Anyway, if you want a truly unforgettable movie experience, this is a movie for you.
