Review of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc
THIS IS A SPOILER-FREE REVIEW After 11 fantastic episodes, the Entertainment District Arc has finally concluded. Going into it, at first i wasn´t sure if this season will keep upping the stakes of the arcs that came before, but my worries were completely unjustified. This was an amazing arc for multiple reasons! Story - 8/10 The Story picks up directly where we left of at the Mugen Train Arc. Everything is paced wonderfully. We get introduced to a completely new and interesting environment. The show does take it´s time to introduces it´s villain but the payoff is definitely worth it. After around episode 5 the arc takes onedramatic turn after the other. The action is fantastic and the viewer can truly feel the suspense and scale of the story in every single scene. The only thing the story is lacking is a certain depth both in the power-system and the storyline itself.Although the breathing techniques are a visual treat, there is no real explanation of how strong which attack really is.And the story itself is pretty straightforward as well. But all this doesn´t take away from the fact that it was highly entertaining!
Animation - 10/10
This season has exceeded both the first season and the movie. I didn´t think this was possible before starting but ufotable did it again. Every single scene is polished to the absolute maximum, the camera highlights every scene and the way the effects animation takes over when a breathing technique is used is absolutely fantastic. Demon Slayer is definitely the new gold-standard when it comes to TV-Anime
Sound - 9/10
The soundtrack uses a lot of tracks we already know but also provided a lot of new ones. The OP is definitely a highlight and became my favorite of the whole series. I also like the different remixes that where used (Inosuke´s Theme). Another highlight are the sound effects. Everything from the breathing techniques, the swift swordstrikes and the explosions sounds great.
Characters - 9/10
For this arc, a new Hashira gets introduced, Tengen Uzui. He was instantly likeable (atleast in my opinion :D) and was a great addition to the series. His flamboyant personality made me root for him during the fights. With him we get introduced to his three(!) wives, namely Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru who were a ton of fun to watch.
I won´t talk about the main villain here because even touching upon that would go into spoilers...
Enjoyment - 10/10
I loved to watch this weekly. At first i thought it was going to get overshadowed by a certain...other anime this season but Demon Slayer proved me wrong. Every episode exceeded the one from before and if i had the time i would rewatch it all again right now!
