Lazarus

Review of Lazarus

Cowboy Bebop was lightening a bottle. Lazarus was an attempt to recreate it. This is by no means a bad anime but once you've had a A5 Ribeye Wagyu, USDA Choice while not bad, doesn't hit as hard. The similarities start of with the characters. First off the smooth asskicker Axel is Spike Spiegel v2.0. This isn't up for debate. Then we have the femme-fatal Christine who is more believable Faye Valentine Next up is token one, Douglas doing the same thing as Jet Black (hey, I didn't name him) which is a bit insulting. I really appreciate the multi ethnic attempt given the global nature of the storybut this was lazy.
Last is the resident young hacker Eleina is a less quirky and tragic Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivrusky IV.....
The musical score was similar.
Thr fights were similar.
The pacing was similar.

The difference show up in the story as it not as tragic, the ending is more happy happy joy joy, and more contrived. The actions of the supporting characters don't seem to make sense most of the times. There no sense of urgency given the nature of the story.

The animation, VA and sound was good if not great.

Maybe I was expecting to much of this series. Maybe someone who has not watched Cowboy Bebop can watch Lazarus first and then get back to me.
