Review of Spy x Family Season 2

So, Spy x Family Season 2 has finally finished and as a huge fan of season 1 I decided to make a review covering my thoughts on the second season. Now when comparing this to season 1 I have to say that for me personally Season 2 is slightly weaker than the first season. That isn’t saying this season is bad because it is very good but this season decided to spend some episodes focusing on other characters outside of the main 3 and while they weren’t bad episodes I would have preferred to spend time with our main core characters. This season had alittle arc on a ship and when the season was covering that section it was incredible having some of the best animated episodes of the show and gave Yor some character development and let her shine. I wished we spent more time on the ship as even the stuff going on with Anya trying to keep Loid from seeing Yor do her job was hilarious. The stuff before and after this little arc while good was nothing really special and outside of Yor I felt like no one else got any development. Not even the main plot got any development. Bond got 2 episodes to spend time with Loid which I suppose you could argue is development but it wasn’t like Loid didn’t like Bond and needed to change his mind. Was more like let’s have a wacky fun adventure together.

This season was still it’s cute, funny, & wholesome self but it felt like outside of the ship arc we weren’t really going anywhere plot wise and could’ve just made a movie about that arc or waited a while longer and make a full 24 episode season. (It might end up being this at the time of this review we don’t know if there will be another part)

Overall I still loved the season and show and am looking forward to the movie but I’m hoping in part 2 or a season 3 we can get back to focusing on the plot and all 3 main characters instead of random adventures with Yor’s brother or Damien and his friends.
