Review of Dan Da Dan
I think Dandadan got slightly more enjoyable the further I got into Season 1. However, overall I still feel like it lands at a 6/10 at best. My biggest complaint early on was that everything happened too fast with little to no explanation and weak fleshing out. We barely got to really know the 2 main characters besides "generic anime teens acting like generic anime teens" and suddenly Shiratori gets a genuinely well fleshed out backstory that none of the ACTAUL main characters got, only for her to be shafted the rest of season 1. I don't get it. Especially when we shove in Jijiinto the main cast who adds... literally nothing to the plot??? Except for making Okarun act like insecure and jealous (spoiler alert, Jiji literally just talks and breathes) so it just feels like he's thrown in there to make Okarun go on some side-plot jealous arc I don't give a single fuck about. Okarun's transformation is probably the coolest thing ever if you're like.... 15? Didn't do anything for me. I think it's corny as hell when a typical nerdy anime protag suddenly transforms into a cool mode and say corny edgy 1 liners. The anime has some neat moments. But overall? Nothing special. I can't believe this was hyped so badly. It's an average anime at best.
You know, I was gonna say 6/10, but the overhype the internet gave this anime actually has me tight as hell.
Dandadan gets measly 5/10.
