Review of Samurai Champloo
I'm a non-native English speaker, and I'm still in an intermediate level, so I excuse myself in advanced for any grammar mistake I can make. It had past a long time since I had time enough to watch any series, so when I started watching Samurai Champloo I hoped it will worth the time, and although I do think is good, I don't think is as good as everybody does. The story is quite simple: 2 samurais who were about to be beheaded for unfair reasons are helped by a girl who thought they could help her to find certain person, so in order to return thefavor (even though they surely could have survive even without her help) they agreed to go with her.
From there, you could see most of the chapters in any order and it will barely impact in your expirience, because 99% of the secondary characters only appear for one or two chapters, and then, no matter what happened in those chapters, they'll not speak about it again.
However, I have to say that there are some pretty good chapters with memorable characters and touch interesting topics whereas the other ones are mostly good enough because of their comedy. It's just that I don't think they deserve a 9 out 10.
The art is good, especially during fights, which are pretty good, so if your looking for action, you are in the right place. Although sometimes they lack of realism.
The openings and endings are both good and the soundtrack fits perfect with the scenes.
The main cast isn't bad, but I think the author didn't give them as much development as he could, being the secondary characters the ones that caught my attention.
Even though it has flaws, the overall enjoyment is good, just don't expect a masterpiece and you'll be fine. In general I do recommend this series for those who want to see good battles and humor to spend the time while watching some pretty good chapters every now and then.
