Due to the short nature of this one-shot there really isn't that much to say. However, it does serve as a nice little backstory for Anavel Gato, and kind of fills out his characters provenance as a soldier a little better. The only thing is that it's essentially lifted from how Origin deals with Char's backstory, except, this came prior in 2003, while Char's backstory didn't appear in Origin until 2005/6 around volume 12. Granted, I'm not Japanese and I don't know what sort of Gundam content was left untranslated, but the similarities with the way they pilot and defeat a shit single handedly isnoticeable. It could have been nice to give Gato a bit of his own identity, perhaps doing something unique, but if the timing is to be believed this predates Char's, and thus I cannot fault this for lack of identity.
