Review of Sword Art Online
I am going to be completely honest - I watched & read this series right when it first came out so it has been a really long time since it has been on my mind. I intend to rewatch it, and I will re-rate it, so I may or may not change this later. I like the idea of the series. At the time I hadn't seen one with this plot theme, so it was really interesting and refreshing in that sense. I also really like the composition and the artistic take. The reason why I didn't like it so much, was that it seemedto lack a sense of being rounded out. I think this stems from it being first created as a light novel, and then readapted in different ways. To me, light novels tend to lack good story telling. As a light novel, this one was actually really well written in comparison to others, but when it rolled over into a different storytelling type it didn't match up. It seems to lack or lose content along the transition, basically. It even further got made into a live action and a video game and if my memory serves there were also cards as well so there was a lot of context switching.
