The movie assumes you're familiar with the story. This is the second half of a 13-episode season in movie form, so there are no reminders or references to events in the previous movie. Only watch this if you are a Made in Abyss fan or need a refresher. It includes some extra content that wasn't in the first season and helps flesh out the world of the show. There are two new scenes, one of which is a dream sequence that hints at future storylines, and the other is a new ending that adds more depth to one of the main characters, Bondrewd.
