Review of Tsukigakirei
I went in to this anime with high hopes and I came out satisfied. I will admit that I thought I would have trouble getting into a romance anime that was set in a middle school setting, but I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was done very well Story: The story is very touching and ends on a very well written and well acted finale. This is the type of anime that will stick with you for awhile. "It will hit you right in the feels." (No, that is not a quote from this anime) Art: I will be honest, it took me a little bitto get used to the art style because it is quite different than most other anime. However, scenary is always gorgeous and after a few episodes, you really come to admire the art style.
Sound: This was my lowest score simply because I felt the voices were quiet and episode 9 (regardless of where I watched it) had serious audio/video sync problems. However, the music really helps here because it always seems to be the right melody at the right time. The opening and ending songs were both pretty good.
Characters: The two main characters are excellent and very memorable. I felt like the side characters were pretty well written and got a decent amount of screen time, EXCEPT for the side character that everyone probably wanted more of; I am not sure why they did not do more with him except the same whole thing with the main character every episode. The shorts after the ending song helped a little bit, but the content regarding this particular character almost seemed "non-canon" and just for fun.
Enjoyment: I watched most of it in one sitting and I was eager to get to the next episode to see what happens next. The writer throws you off your game in the final episode on whether you see a happy ending coming or a sad ending coming. The result: you have to watch it to see for yourself.
Overall: Very good anime, if you enjoy romance anime, then this is a must watch. If you are not big into romance anime, then I dont see this turning you around on the genre.
