Review of Tsukigakirei
Tsuki ga Kirei is a sweet and innocent anime following two awkward and shy middle school students who fall in love. You watch them navigate their first relationship, deal with the challenges of growing up, and prepare for the most important decision of their lives which is high school selection. There's a lot of "Yeah..." "Ok..." "..." as you watch them communicate. You watch this awkwardness evolve as they become more comfortable with and learn about each other. It abstains from a lot of the prevalent tropes in the genre. There’s no melodrama or over-the-top comedy which makes it more refreshing to me though some maythink of the show as boring.
The CGI does look awkward at times but the director tries to capture beautiful scenes with a mix of colors and music. The anime does a good job of conveying the feelings of love and affection in those scenes. The ending left a heartwarming feeling and I definitely recommend it for anyone who loves awkward romances or is tired of clichés.
