Review of A Place Further Than The Universe
“A Place Further Than the Universe” invokes the feeling of youth and being able to take on the world and be able to do anything. I am 20 years old now, so still pretty young, but just like Kimari in the show I sometimes have the feeling that my youth is passing me by. This show encourages the viewer to try something new and live their life to the fullest everyday. The message behind this show and its story is very touching to me and I would highly recommend this show to anyone. The art and sound of this show is top notch. A lotof detail were put into the environment and the character design of every scene. The art definitely stands out during the blizzard arc near the end of the show. The Arctic scenary was beautifully animated. The opening song is catchy “The Girls Are Alright”, but in my opinion the best song on the soundtrack is “Haru Ka Tooku”. It does a good job of delivering during the emotional scenes of the show and is definitely memorable.
The Characters and their development are one of the most pivotal parts of this show and it is a treat to watch. I cannot see this show being as good without the four main girls. All four girls have their different reasons for wanting to go to Antarctica and the show explores them. Watching their friendship grow from barely knowing each other to best friends is also satisfying.
Even though this show did a lot of things right I do have a few complaints. In a few moments during the show I felt that some of the drama felt forced and unnecessary. It seemed they were just trying to provoke some emotion from the viewer. Also, the believability of the show and the whole premise of four highschool girls traveling to Antarctica despite how dangerous it is, is a bit of a stretch though. It does provide good reasoning behind why they are finally allowed to go so it can slide.
I really enjoyed this show. It exceeded my expectations greatly. It comes with a few inspiring messages about living life to the fullest, human relationships, and moving forward. If you are looking a slice of life adventure this is definitely the show for you.
