Review of The Rising of the Shield Hero
The first few episodes are pretty hard to watch and probably the weakest episodes out of the whole season. It also means it can't get worse. Again, I only had problems with the first two episodes, the setting lacked creativity and thought. For example, I didn't get why a Kingdom where slavery is frowned upon still legalises slavery. The anime is set in a medieval-like era, but their social norms aligns with ours, which really doesn't make sense. But to be honest, I was only bothered at the start of the season and as you get into the series, it's a show with complex characters and deep bonds.Their interaction all seem natural and I really loved watching the crew spending time and caring for each other.
The author can deliver great character development but has a difficult time perfecting the fantasy world.
Still, I really enjoyed watching the show.
I would recommend if you are able to challenge your own perception of morality.
Finally: Art is pretty okay, the soundtrack is pretty good too.
