(you can skip to the end if you want eventhough it's not that big,my final summary is at the end, no spoilers) A story poetically based on the sea, like how the sea is sometimes calm, sometimes stormy,it depicts the emotions of love, sadness, happiness, and everything the characters of A lull in the sea go through. Another multiple interconnected Love triangle, which surprisingly worked well this time. I want to start off with how beautiful the visuals are.Absolutely,stunning. Hats off to P.A.Works , they went full out with their art and animations, it's a feast for an eye, and almost even worth watching for that alone. 10/10 goes par-to-par with anyfamous studio like mappa, madhouse, wit, cloverworks etc. This is the first anime i watched from this production studio so maybe i don't know that this studio might be already famous.

Music,scores.10/10.
I loved the cour 1's op AND ed, both were perfect.just perfect. The op was full vibe, and the ed was a melodic masterpiece, atleast to me.The second half music was good too ,but not as good as the former ones. And coming to the score, the details were so enjoyable with both earphones on, from the sea waves, and the sparkling sounds of Ena, to the very small details of cooking a soup. The music never felt out of place, and the ed perfectly matched with every episode when they perfectly end with a suspense or cliffhanger and the melody kicks on.No score felt out of place or hard to listen to.

Characters: 9/10.
nothing new,but there will be so many ships for u to sail and root for:
Now comes the characters. We don't see any new characters since the entire anime is meoldrama. They are middle schoolers, so you can't expect them to be extremely sharp about their emotions- the story is about them exploring the feeling of love through the sea afterall. So don't complain why the characters are so dense etc. If you understand this point and watch it, it will be watchable. The thing that amazed me is that there were many instances the characters started to get very relatable- and this is a very normal thing that most drama romance failed to execute well, with the dialogues and such.

Story: 7/10: DRAMA TURNED SLICE OF LIFE.
Now the story. Here is were the execution failed in some aspects. I call this multiple interlinked love triangle as a "love polygon"- there are rare animes that tried this concept and failed miserably ,and i've seen a couple.By far a lull in the sea is the only anime that succeeded in finishing it well for all characters, atleast compared to the other love polygon based romance i've seen. But when you're making a 26 episode, you gotta be an expert at pacing, and a lull in the sea missed my 10/10 score in that point.after 13th episode, it became lengthy and boring. It took me months to finish this (but that doesn't mean it was bad).
The concept of Sea people gave colors to the fantasy genre, and they utilized the fantasy genre visually so well .We come to know more deeper about its history only in the ending episodes. But they perfectly explained the plot and it was all well connected as the anime was coming to the end.I totally loved the story of the Sea god and the Wooden Maiden.Till the end we are confused who will end up with who,so better not sail a single ship.

SUMMARY:
A lull in the sea, even though for its bad pacing and lengthy second half, will leave your heart in relaxation as you finish a visual masterpiece, and i mean it,a visual masterpiece, of this fairy tale of love, life journey, heartbreak, meaning of life, and accepting changes around us. 9/10 worth 100% watch, if you love drama and love triangles.

oh And by the way, i guarantee you the music gonna stick with your heart :))
