Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

Reading several of the Tyrant themed manhwa, this one I find develops the actual relationship poorly between the FL and ML. The beginning did establish the FL in the typical misfortunate circumstances, lacking any compassion from her aunt and cousin, sent off to be engaged to the Emperor whose known for his notorious personality - so far so good. Then it presents the Emperor's initial constant annoyance with the the FL and always bad mouthing her/ threatening her to scare her - typical toxic relationship status, but not unheard off. The major issue is how long the toxic interaction dragged out in a goodchunk of the early chapters, little to no interactions otherwise; the perspective is FL doing her own thing, and the the ML in most cases doing work wondering why he's bothered by the FL.
They try to make some deep-rooted trauma and pressure to ML past to give meaning to his current personality, as well as have the FL not remember her childhood. In turn when they actually properly address their feelings towards each other it feels undeserved, because the pacing was rather sudden and the fact the story spends most of the time apart from each other.

The supporting characters backstories and motives had some potential depth that never really gets expanded or abruptly ends - the FL's Eunuch a good example, he became one to get money for the medicinal treatment of his loved, his interaction with his loved one ended up in a sour note because she knows being a eunuch can't leave their position. Another supporting character is a kid from a nomadic tribe who was separated by all his motherly figures, had some short plot relevance that could have been easily expressed more, just gets sent of for his own protection later on and doesn't get brought up in the conclusion.

As typical as villain plot goes with the many subtle assassination attempts, it felt like something that "just is" for sake of having a villainess fail spectacularly while not hiding how terrible her personality to get her punishment in the end.

Finally the last arc was the most rushed as if they just wanted to tie up the loose ends as fast as possible - mainly the FL's past memories while confronting her ancestors, the ML remembering his true self and finally getting together with the FL.
