Spoiler warning

This review may discuss plot details.

Darwin Jihen is an amazing experiment as an "American" Manga. what do I mean? well, Darwin Jihen is set in America and features an American cast, does this make it an American manga? no. What makes it American is the writing and themes. (he's a few examples to save me and you time) Darwin Jihen covers American politics really well with the lingering confederacy, School shootings, red pills and politics live steamers, Ben Shapero teens citing "facts" without understanding them, liberal types wondering if they're using the correct terminology in real-time (portrayed as a form of politeness rather than a joke), only in America could an "activist"group afford to focus on animal rights.
Darwin Jihen's story focuses a lot on Civil rights and what happens when you don't have them often compared to black civil rights.
Even the native pacing is that of an American TV show. (this one's hard to explain if you get it you'll get it)
there are probably even more that I've missed but I hope this is enough to convince you.

Is Darwin Jihen a perfect manga? No. Should it be in the top 10? Also no.
but it's a fascinating and important manga if you care about manga as an art form.
