Review of The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil

A story of a devil and an angel that starts as enemies but slowly grows closer, and forms a new strange connection. The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil, is a story that follows the devil Akutsu and the angel Lily. They start out as enemies, both hiding in the same high school, but from their competitions they slowly start to form a new relationship. The plot involves Akutsu trying to recruit someone for the devil army, while Lily is fighting devils. Each one of their plans starts getting intertwined, which leads to more and more trouble, while they try and keep their special relationship secret. Theplot builds a lot around the fact they are otherworldly beings fighting on a battlefield with people unaware of them, which gives it a nice subtext throughout.

When it comes to the characters, they are pretty well written, though some of the side characters are very simple, but still hold some value. The relation that is being built between the main characters is very detailed, and shows some very interesting progression. The side characters don't have much progression in their relationship, and are more used as a plot tool.

The animation is in some degree very simple and is generally average. The eyes are nicely made and the mythical aspects are also shown more details, but otherwise very average animation.

The thing that stands out for this anime is the way they progress through it and how the genre's impacts vary throughout the season. This is done really smoothly and it seems natural how the focus goes from comedy, romance and mythology.

Overall, it is a good show that has a very interesting dynamic between the main characters, where its only lacking part is details on side characters. So if a mythological romcom is something for you, would I definitely recommend this.
