Review of Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow
Cant believe i am hating on something i wanted to see happening. I always imagined what if everyone Saitama from opm showed his real lower to everyone and started taking f*cks from no one, what would it be like. Well now i can say it wouldn't feel that good. Talking about soso leveling it feel underwhelmed, and it’s easy to see why. It’s not surprising that Solo Leveling Season 2 feels underwhelming. If the ingredients are bad, you can’t expect the final dish to be great. The Solo Leveling manhwa itself had its flaws, and while Season 1 was enjoyable, Season 2 falls apart completely. One ofthe biggest issues is Jin-Woo’s character development—or rather, his decline. In Season 1, he was a cool, goal-driven protagonist who genuinely wanted to help others. However, after saving his mother, he becomes arrogant and unlikable. Instead of the relatable underdog, he turns into one of those egotistical S-rank hunters he once despised.
Jin-Woo’s attitude also makes him harder to connect with. In Season 1, you could imagine being his friend, but in Season 2, he feels distant—only interacting with girls and other "cool" characters while ignoring others. His decision-making also feels inconsistent; he refuses to work with top hunters but still inserts himself into major battles when it benefits him.
Another major issue is how poorly the story handles side characters. Many promising hunters are killed off simply because the writer couldn’t develop them properly. While some fans complain about the pacing being too fast, in this case, it’s a relief—dragging out this story would have made it even worse.
Overall, Season 2 lacks the depth, excitement, and strong character development that made Season 1 enjoyable. The animation is still great, but the story itself feels empty.
Rating: 5/10 – A major step down from Season 1.
