Review of Redo of Healer
I don't normally write reviews, but I feel like I have to justify why I put myself through this. This was not a happy watch, rather it was very much like a first timer watching a Saw movie without any experience in the slasher genre. It was something that you'd start qatching and despite how disgusted you are, you had to see it through. Now I will preface this by saying that I am not into revenge plots, not at all. I am very much a believer in being the bigger person, even if that makes me sound like a pussy. If not being the biggerperson, the only other way I'd ever want to see revenge carried out is through equal exchange. This is being said because I personally cannot tell you about the quality of this anime correctly, as I am not it's intended audience. So, if you're into this kind of anime, take my review with a grain of salt. Aslo, I don't think I'd ever want to speak to you if you genuinely enjoyed this.
Redo of a Healer starts in a very interesting way. You see the shit the main character has to go through, and then you're told that he wants revenge, and goes so far as to reverse the planet and timeline by four years. You aren't really sure what's going to happen, but you're intrigued. I really like the idea of Heroes and being in a world where there is a chance that you could have a skill higher than all others while also just being able to level up in general. I was very interested, but I was also afraid that he'd be enacting revenge on versions of the characters that didn't do anything wrong. This was incorrect. From the very beginning the anime shoves it down your throat that not only has nothing changed, but something will always happen that keeps the main character angry enough to carry out his revenge plot. It goes as far as to make the main character create issues just so he can be angry enough to carry out his revenge plot. As previously stated I compared the way revenge was taken by Saw traps. Shit goes a little too far in my opinion. To the point where the anime becomes less of an anime and more of a torture porn hentai hybrid. They focus so much on sex in this anime that they literally could've completed the revenge plot in one season had they not had two sex scenes every fucking episode. But aside from that the literal most important and relevant quote from this anime is "Are you a good guy or a bad guy?" Of course you don't get a clear answer as the main character ping pongs around morality among other things, and while I'm sure that was the point, it made me that much more uncomfortable. If I could describe his character in as simple a way I could I'd give him chaotic neutral or lawful evil. Of course there is no fucking way this man is good. As other reviews have said, he does things for himself and only for the good of himself. You can even see him start to grow as a person, actually treating people decently, before telling himself that this is for revenge and either making something happen to reignite his anger or literally doing fucking nothing and letting people die just to justify his dumb fucking revenge plot.
I enjoyed the character designs, the world building, and the different races, and if this anime had been anything but a revenge plot I probably would've had this be pretty high on my list, but I literally can't explain how awful this made me feel without rambling and sounding like a pussy to those who find this shit enjoyable and hot even.
This wasn't for me, but I watched it anyways.
