Mob Psycho 100 II is a fantastic and entertaining show. Was it a step up from the 1st season, or was it not? Well, lets talk about it and find out together (Non spoiler obviously.) Similarly to season 1, the story is very good. There are some episodic episodes like with season 1, and there are some larger plot lines going on too. I will get what I dislike about this show the most out of the way first. I find episodic shows often quite uninteresting. I prefer to follow an overarching plot throughout an entire show. Shows like 'Violet Evergarden' and maybe one or twoothers which I can't remember right now show that being episodic can work very well. I think Mob Psycho kind of fits into this. The episodic episodes occur at the beginning of the show and are done quite well I suppose, as they are used to develop the characters such as Shigeo and Reigen. Also, the events of the episodes which use an episodic format are called back to later on, which is cool. Overall, it does handle the episodes using an episodic format well, but I just generally do not like them. However I understand that other people will, so I won't be too harsh about it. They are still very funny. And let me say now that this is a hilarious show throughout. Anyway, I went on a rant there, sorry. What was I talking about? Oh yea, the story. The story is very good. There's just so many feelings in this show. Sometimes it is sad, sometimes it makes you angry, sometimes it is just really wholesome, and then really f*king funny. The show does a good job at handling all of these different emotions that it sends you through, which is interesting because season 2 shares similar themes with season 1, about understanding your emotions and keeping your emotions in check. It's as if you go through the same things that Shigeo does and experience them the same way he does as he learns more about his emotions. Also, I think it's great how Mob Psycho is one of the shows which actually has multiple strong messages layered in it, and successfully develops these messages and themes to leave the viewer feeling as if they have learned something from their time watching it. The story is exciting and emotional, and actually unique and funny. Not your typical shonen anime which to be honest is good because most popular shonen stuff is dull to me now. A fresh story. Nice job.

The animation is just amazing. So high quality, especially towards the end. Some incredible action scenes and it's easy to tell that 'Bones' put a lot of time and thought into this show. No wonder it took like 2 and a half years to make just 13 episodes. Character ajimation is great and of high quality. The backgrounds look nice and a nicely animated OP.

The music is good. I only remember one track and it's the fighting one which plays at the start of season 1. The opening song is very good as expected, as it was made by the same people who wrote the performed the opening song for season 1. Yea not much more to say for that.

Alright. You have done well to make it this far. On to the characters. My favourite is 'Shigeo'. He is in my favourites list on my anime page (which you should check out.) 'Shigeo' I thought was very well developed in season 1. He is an extremely introverted, kind boy who just wants a girlfriend and to be popular in season 1. However he struggles to express his emotions and therefore is quite misunderstood. But then over the course of 12 or 13 episodes, he changes substantially and learns to control his emotions a bit more and accepts that he doesn't need to be popular like his brother. Of-course, that is a very simplified explanation of his character growth. In season 2, the original creator manages to move Shigeo's character even further forward. Not spoiling anything but there is plenty of great character things this season, which goes beyond what happened in season 1 by a lot. Also 'Reigen' is back and is as amazing as he always was. Surprisingly he actually receives a lot of development too. Again, this is a very well written show so expect some great character stuff going on. Also before I forget, the amount of characters in Mob Psycho is amazing. There is so many, way more than in season 1 it feels like. And the character designs are great. This should probably be in the animation portion of the review but i dont really care at this point. I have been writing this for ages now and am actually slightly bored believe it or not. Wait what was I talking about? Oh yea, the style. The shows style is very unique, obviously trying to copy the style of the original manga while improving it so it doesn't look like it was done on ms paint. I think the way the characters are drawn is great and while it is scruffier than most other shows, I love it anyway.

Alright so here we are. It's done. My review is finished. What a great show. Inferior to season 1? I think just a bit, but that is just my tastes. I prefer the episodic portion of the show in season 1 than in season 2, but it still has amazing writing nonetheless, along with amazing characters and just being so fun and tense to watch. Great voice acting, great team working on it. I give 'Mob Psycho 100' a 9/10 (Only just).

Thank you for reading my review on 'Mob Psycho 100.
