Review of Gangsta.
Gangsta is an anime that should not be taken at face value because it makes viewers think, remember, and draw conclusions. While the series is brief and does not leave a whole lot of time for character development to be balanced with action, there is substantial development of the key characters and more than enough to keep viewers hungry. The characters are not easily relatable, and that itself is a challenge to viewers, but one that I personally welcomed. From the thoroughly unique and somehow perfectly on beat opening scene, to the conflict that eats up every facet of these characters, Gangsta is a thrillride for the advanced viewer. Do not watch this anime for the face value of crime, drugs, sex, and violence, but instead look at it from a critical perspective and consider thoroughly what the author is trying to convey through each character. Hopefully as the manga continues the anime will be renewed because it was a joy to watch and a refreshing break from typical shonen anime. Lots of potential to be a staple series in the anime world in a genre that is not usually hyped or overwhelmingly successful.
P.S. Google the name of the city. It will put the show into an entirely different context for you.
