Review of Fire Force
Summary Imagine living in a world where people suddenly catch on fire without warning. These people turn into dangerous creatures called Infernals. To stop them, special firefighter teams are created. One of them is Company 8. A boy named Shinra Kusakabe, who can shoot fire from his feet, joins this team.He wants to become a hero and find out what really happened to his family when their house burned down.
At first, it seems like they’re just putting out fire monsters.
But soon, Shinra discovers something much bigger going on.
A scary group might be planning something huge, and very dangerous.
Story (⭐7)
The idea of people turning into fire monsters is super cool.
The world feels cool, but it’s not fully explained.
We don’t really get a sense of what’s going on outside the cities.
In one episode, someone says he dreams of seeing a sea creature,
Which makes you wonder, does the ocean still exist? Has the world changed that much?
We don’t know, and that makes the setting feel unclear.
Organization-wise, things are also pretty fuzzy.
We have our main villains groups, but we’re never really told what they want in a clear way.
Saying they want to destroy the world sounds too simple, there has to be more, but the show doesn’t give it to us yet.
Even Shinra’s motivation feels a bit shaky.
He wants to be a hero because of a tragic event in his past, but as the story unfolds, some details about that event start to shift.
It makes his reason for becoming a hero feel a little less clear and leaves you wondering what’s really pushing him forward.
Character (⭐7)
The characters are fun and very different from each other.
Everyone in Company 8 has their own powers and personality.
Here’s who you’ll meet:
Shinra Kusakabe – The main guy. He’s fast, can fly with fire from his feet, and wants to be a hero.
Arthur Boyle – Thinks he’s a knight. Carries a plasma sword. Strong, but kinda goofy.
Tamaki Kotatsu – Has cat-like fire powers. Gets stuck in awkward fan-service scenes a lot, which takes away from her potential.
Captain Akitaru Obi – The tough but kind leader. He has no powers but trains super hard and leads with heart.
Lieutenant Takehisa Hinawa – A serious sharpshooter. He can control how gunpowder burns and is super calm.
Maki Oze – A strong but sweet fighter who can control small flame spirits. Don’t mess with her.
Sister Iris – A kind nun who prays for the Infernals before they're put to rest. Brings heart to the team.
Shinra is the main focus, and his story is exciting to follow.
But not all of the others get as much time to shine.
Some backstories are great and emotional. Others feel rushed or not fully explained.
Honestly, besides Shinra, I didn’t feel much emotional connection to the rest of the cast.
It makes the character depth feel kind of lacking.
But who knows, this is just the first season.
Maybe future seasons will give them more time to grow.
Visual & Sound (⭐8)
This is where Fire Force really shines.
• The animation is smooth and action-packed. The fire looks amazing.
• The sound effects make battles feel real and loud.
• The opening song, “Inferno” by Mrs. GREEN APPLE, is super catchy and sets the mood.
The fight scenes look like something from a movie, bright, wild, and exciting.
It’s fun to watch, even if you’re not fully into the story.
Overall Enjoyment (⭐7)
Fire Force Season 1 is a fun show with great animation and a cool idea.
The story and characters need some work, but it still keeps your attention.
The biggest downside? Unnecessary fan service.
Tamaki constantly ends up in scenes that feel forced and just plain awkward.
These moments don’t match the tone of the story and often break the flow, making it hard to stay immersed.
But if you like big battles, awesome powers, and cool fire effects, this show is worth checking out.
OVERALL RATING: ⭐7.25
