Review of Ping Pong the Animation

This felt so much like a college thesis project, and I mean that in the best possible way. You can just feel this one person's passion radiating throughout every frame of animation. The art is unlike anything I've ever seen before and I feel like that'll remain true for many years to come. The passion for the game of ping pong is also so infectious that even if you have zero interest or history with the game yourself, you can't help but be invested throughout every match. My only nitpick is that I feel like there was a liiiiiiittle too much time being spent onrepeating flashback sequences that I would've preferred being spent on seeing more of the matches. I wonder if this would've perhaps fared even better as a movie. Regardless, this series is in a league of its own and is something I can easily recommend to people who've never seen anime before as an example of just how varied and diverse the medium is capable of.
