Note: This review covers my general thoughts for both seasons of Space Dandy. This has got to be one of the most underrated anime I have ever seen. It is consistently funny, gorgeously animated, has a surprising amount of emotion, and full of memorable moments and characters. There is such a huge variety of episodes in terms of tone and genres that I guarantee that there is at least one episode that you will like. The cons: There really is just one con I could find. Space Dandy is very episodic. If you are looking for an anime with an amazing, multilayered, deep, and unpredictable plot. Youwon't find it here. The over arching story is as bare bones as it gets in Space Dandy. Though I personally feel its episodic nature is the show's greatest strength some might view it as being to simple or random and unfocused.

All of the characters except Dandy. Though I personally liked all of the other characters in the show besides Dandy himself, some could see them as uninteresting or underdeveloped. The Show is really all about Dandy, but I will say that every other character gets at least one episode that focuses entirely on them and gives them a chance for development.

The pros:
The animation. if you are familiar with Studio BONES this is hands down some of their best work. The animation is stunning there is always something beautiful to look at on screen. If you are not familiar with studio BONES some of their works include: My Hero Academia, Soul Eater, One Punch Man (many free lance animators that often work with BONES worked with studio Madhouse on One PUnch Man), Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Sword of the Stranger, and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

The sheer variety of stories and genres this show tackles means that the show can please anyone. There is a musical episode, an episode that pays homage to all the classic George Romero zombie films, there are whacky space adventures and races, there are episodes that act as great love stories, there are episodes that are full of emotion, there is an episode like a rock and roll band bio-pic film, there are episodes about time travel, other dimensions, an episode like a courtroom drama series, there are episodes that have horror elements, and so much more. It might seem like I am spoiling a lot but trust me when I say these episodes need to be seen to be believed. This huge variety of episodes also lets us see a lot of different aspects of Dandy's (the main character) personality. I feel that you do not always need a over arching story to have complex or interesting characters and feel that Space Dandy is proof of that. He can be dumb, gentle, sleazy, smooth, genuinely kind, confident, vulnerable, bad ass, and so much more.

The show is almost always funny and when it isn't, there is still a surprising amount of emotion. Plus there is always some incredible animation to look at.

Side note, The dub for Space Dandy is awesome.
