Review of Monster

Review in Spanish (original) and English... ENGLISH History: 20 / 20 A realistic story that immerses us in a world that reflects events that really happened, such as the separation in Germany, the fall of the Berlin wall, etc. The story progresses and the facts may well have really happened. A work that touches many issues of ethics and strives to expose how bad, arrogant and hateful the personality of many people can be, and how good, optimistic and full of life other people can be, the best thing is that it shows all this without stop moving forward in a very interesting way into the story, givingit depth and complexity at the same time, but without missing much of the main plot.
Is there filler in those 74 chapters? Not exactly. I must admit that the series in certain parts loses a little intensity and makes it necessary to pause it so you dont get bored. Monster is not an anime that you watch and finish in three days. It took me months to see it, but I totally recommend finishing it. Without a doubt, one of the best stories I have seen if not the best. Come on, to be a series praised by Guillermo Del Toro, what were you expecting?

Art / Animation: 18 / 20

Some curious drawings and animation, but they are not annoying at all although I thought they would be. It is not a praiseworthy job in this area, but I thought it was well done. For a long series, with some action scenes, although many other simple ones in which only the characters appear in conversation, I found it a nice drawing and animation style. It looks great with the type of anime it is.

Sound: 19 / 20

Good setting during the series, good voices, very compatible with the types of characters and with a good performance. Both the opening and the ending were good, the remarkable thing is that they showed a direct relationship with the progress of the story, a detail that I really liked.

Characters: 20 / 20

Each character showed a personality deep enough to bring the proper realism to the series. Not a single complaint in this regard. Each character progresses along with the story and develops in a very interesting way. The perfect example? Eva, who was in my opinion the character that showed the most changes for good throughout the series. I will not give more details so as not to spoil. And I really like that all the characters are given adequate screen time, enough to get to know them and to better understanding of how they influenced the protagonists.

Enjoyment: 19 / 20

If I was in chapter ~ 35 and writing this review, I'd rate it lower, maybe 16/20. But I would be wrong, since in that part of the anime I did not yet understand that this series is to give you your time to complete it, since there may come a point where you get a little bored and leave it for a while, that's how I did it and I was putting it off. I think I never saw more than 5 chapters in a row. Despite that detail, it is worth watching it in its entirety, and it is indeed very enjoyable to watch it for a second time.

Overall: 96 / 100

This is the anime that I have given the highest rating of all. It is a very complete anime for its genre. Wow, if you like suspense, police series, if you like to know a little history, you are interested in serious topics such as ethics or politics, this series will enchant you. But if you come for the action, or for fights, or for a series of shots where they kill each other, you better go find something else, go away, this isnt for you.

Historia : 20 / 20

Una historia realista que nos sumerge en un mundo que refleja acontecimientos que en verdad sucedieron, como la separación de Alemania, la caída del muro de Berlín, etc. La historia avanza y los hechos bien pudieron realmente haber pasado. Una obra que toca muchos temas de ética y se esfuerza en desenmascarar lo mala, arrogante y odiosa que puede ser la personalidad de muchas personas, y lo buenos, optimistas y llenos de vida que pueden ser otras, lo mejor es que muestra todo esto sin dejar de avanzar de manera muy interesante en su historia, al darle profundidad y complejidad a la vez, pero sin perderte mucho del argumento principal. 

¿Hay relleno en esos 74 capítulos?, no precisamente. Debo admitir que la serie en ciertas partes pierde un poco de intensidad y hace necesario el pausarla para no aburrirte. Monster no es un anime que te eches en tres días. Yo me tardé meses en verla, pero completamente recomendable terminarla. Sin duda alguna, una de las mejores historias que he visto si no la mejor. 
Vamos, para ser una serie alabada por Guillermo Del Toro, ¿Qué te esperabas?

Arte : 18 / 20

Unos dibujos y animación curiosos, pero que no son molestos en absoluto aunque pensé que sí lo serían. No es un trabajo digno de alabar en este ámbito, pero me pareció que está bien hecho. Para ser una serie larga, con algunas escenas de acción, aunque muchas otras sencillas en las que solo aparecen los personajes conversando, me pareció un estilo de dibujos y animación agradable. Queda muy bien con el tipo de anime que es.

Sonido : 19 / 20

Buena ambientación durante la serie, buenas voces, muy compatibles con los tipos de personajes y con una buena actuación. Tanto los openings como los endings fueron buenos, lo destacable es que mostraron relación directa con el avance de la historia, un detalle que me gustó mucho.

Personajes : 20 / 20

Cada personaje mostró una personalidad lo suficientemente profunda para aportar el realismo adecuado a la serie. Ni una queja en este aspecto. Cada personaje va avanzando junto con la historia y se va desarrollando de una manera muy interesante. ¿El ejemplo perfecto? Eva, que fue en mi opinión el personaje que más mostró cambios para bien en toda la serie. No daré más detalles para no marcar como spoiler. Y me agrada mucho que a todos los personajes se le da el tiempo adecuado en pantalla, lo suficiente para conocerlos y para entender mejor cómo estos influenciaron a los protagonistas.

Disfrute : 19 / 20

Si fuera en el capítulo ~35 y estuviera escribiendo esta reseña, le pondría una calificación menor, quizá un 16/20. Pero estaría equivocado, ya que en esa parte del anime yo no comprendía aún que esta serie es para verla de vez en cuando, y darte tu tiempo para completarla, ya que puede que llegue un punto en el que te aburra un poco y la dejes por un tiempo, así yo hice y lo fui postergando. Creo que nunca vi más de 5 capítulos seguidos. A pesar de ese detalle, vale la pena verla completa, y sí que se disfruta al verla por segunda vez. 



General : 96 / 100

Este es el anime al que le he dado la calificación más alta de todas. Es un anime muy completo para su género. Vaya, que si te gusta el suspenso, series policiacas, si te gusta saber un poco de historia, te interesan temas serios como ética o política incluso, esta serie te va a encantar. Pero si vienes por la acción, o por peleas, o por una serie de disparos donde se la pasan matándose, mejor retírate.

We, casi al final, de verdad que me salió una lágrima cuando Lungue se disculpa con Tenma.
