Review of Ghost Stories

I consider this anime, which was released in the year 2000, as highly recommended. Even though I just watched it in 2024, it still creeped me out. Maybe it’s because I’m really scared of the horror genre, especially since I always watch it in the middle of the night, which makes the horror feel even more intense. I’m pretty sure this was the scariest anime of the 2000s. If I had watched this as a kid, I probably would have fainted, haha. I also really liked the character development of the cat throughout the series. I would definitely give the highest rating for that aspect. However, the anime doeshave some weaknesses:
1. There’s no background story for the main character's parents, especially the mother. Why can she put so many spirits to rest? Where did she get that power? Her origins remain unknown even by the end.

2. There’s a lack of supporting characters, so the main character is always the victim. This repetition sometimes made me a bit bored. Unless the main character had some supernatural ability like a magnet that attracts ghosts, it would make sense, but he's just an ordinary human.

3. The adult characters are completely useless. Despite many strange occurrences, they seem clueless and don’t understand the supernatural world at all.

4. Even though the main character frequently encounters ghosts, they still get scared. That’s a bit odd to me.

5. The scene transitions are too abrupt, and the jump scares with the audio are also harsh, so sometimes I got startled just by the sound.

But despite these flaws, I still recommend this anime. The story is light enough, making it a good watch before bed, while eating, or with friends or family.

Anime tahun yang rilis pada tahun 2000, aku nobatkan sebagai anime yang recommended

padahal aku baru tonton di tahun 2024 tapi masih serem aja buatku, mungkin karena aku memang takut banget sama genre horror, apalagi aku selalu nonton saat tengah malam, berasa sekali horrornya

aku cukup yakin di jaman tahun 2000an ini jadi anime terseram sih, kalau waktu aku kecil menonton anime ini, kayaknya aku bakal pingsan haha

aku juga suka development si kucing sampai akhir episode, aku sungguh memberikan nilai paling bagus disitu

Namun kendati begitu, anime ini ada beberapa kelemehannya
1. Tidak ada latar belakang untuk orang tua si pemeran utama, khususnya untuk ibunya, kenapa bisa menidurkan banyak setan, dari mana dia punya kekuatan itu, asal usulnya sampai tamat pun tidak diketahui

2. minimnya karakter tambahan sehingga, pemeran utama selalu jadi korban, kadang pengulangan itu buat aku sedikit bosan, kecuali si pemeran utama punya kekuatan ghaib seperti magnet yang membuat dia selalu di terror hantu, kalau alasanya seperti itu baru dah tidak apa apa, tapi si pemeran utama hanyalah manusia biasa

3. Pemeran dewasa yang sama sekali tidak ada gunanya, padahal banyak kejadian aneh, namun pemeran dewasa kayak orang bodoh dan tidak mengerti sama sekali sama dunia perhantuan

4. Padahal sering ketemu hantu, tapi masih takutan, itu agak aneh menurutku

5. perpindahan scene terlalu kasar, jump scare untuk audionya pun cukup kasar, jadi terkadang kaget sama audio

Namun walau seperti itu, aku tetep merekomendasikan anime ini, ceritanya cukup ringan, cocok untuk menemani tidur, makan atau nonton sama teman atau keluarga.
