Review of Is This a Zombie? of the Dead
Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead is very similar to the first season. What made first season very enjoyable to watch was how ridiculously funny/random the story itself is, and I'm glad that the second season brings more of the same. The major downside is that unlike the first season where characters are somewhat developed and there was at least a plot, there is almost none of those in the second season. The main cause was the pacing. The plot probably could have been finished within the second season, yet they chose to drag it out and leave it unfinished, which made asomewhat poor ending as well. Furthermore, the main characters did not develop at all, and their relationship stayed nearly the same after the end of the first season. It seems like the second season chose fan service over real character development (that was also somewhat the case for the first season), using the kawaii Eucliwood, the well-endowed Seraphim, the insane/immature tsundere Haruna, and several others. It worked to some degree, even though the harem/ecchi cliche has been used by over hundreds of animes. In the end, I do not understand how the average score for the second season is higher than the first season, since there are quite a few flaws and no real qualities with this anime.
With that said, the second season was still very enjoyable to watch. Referring back to the beginning, what made this anime attractive in the first place was how ridiculously funny the story is, even though it was lacking in the second season. It is quite easy to laugh at really silly scenes, and in the end I found entertainment in this anime. It's just good, but it won't be anything more than that.
