Review of Hunter x Hunter
Greatest shonen of all time. Amazing characters, soundtrack, worldbuilding, conflict, themes, development, even the art and character designs are perfect. This is what Naruto and Bleach could have only dreamed of being, it just blows them out of any water, its not even a competition anymore. If you haven't watched this, just do it already. I wish I could erase my memory and watch it all again over and over. This is the only shonen that can pull your heart strings so much.Gon's dream of meeting his dad is so much more grounded and selfless than other ambitions like "I'll become the greatest ____!" All Gon wants is to meet the man who was the reason he decided to become a hunter in the first place. The show explores themes like humanity, war, and morality while showing both sides to each. There is never a moment where you have no sympathy or do not understand the antagonists actions, they always have another perspective that shows that they are not much different from eachother at all.
The character designs are very unique, fun to look at, and im glad Togashi didn't fall into the trap of making all of his female characters reskins. You can easily tell everyone apart, and they match with their personalities.
The soundtrack is probably one of the greatest anime soundtracks of all time. I still listen to tracks from HXH daily, and they never cease to make me emotional.
No arc overstays its welcome, I feel that the pacing is perfect for what stories the shows tries to tell, and that the narrative is always going somewhere, never feeling out of place or dragged out. 3-5 chapters per episode is perfect for the story.
Even the "worst" arcs in my opinion were still very enjoyable and I would rewatch again.
10/10.
