Review of Kokoro Connect
I chose Kokoro Connect to watch at random, but I had high hopes for it. The story seemed interesting, and it seemed like something I would like. And I was not wrong. I did really like it, but I can't lie and say that I wasn't at all disappointed. Overall, though, it was a great anime. Story: The story was really good at first. It was interesting and, even though this isn't really a proper describing word, it was pretty spicy up until about the 7th episode. The whole body swapping thing was cliche and common conflict material among animes, but it still entertains me everytime. It's when the unleashing of the desires bit came around that I came to be not-so-impressed. It felt like the same conflict was being repeated over and over, and with no real cause. It was entertaining, yes. I laughed, I cried, my heart was with the characters and what the were feeling, but it was a bit lacking in ways that I can't put into words.
Art: The art was not spectacular, but it was still really good. I don't have any criticisms for the art at all other than when they were crying, I did not like how they blinked and then their tears like splashed away or something. It was really cringey, to be honest. something I remember really liking about the art, though, was how the girls looked from behind. I really liked how their uniforms looked. It seemed like they were crumpled just enough and it made them look sluchy ikna good way and I liked that.
Sound: The sound was pretty good, but it was also pretty un-amazing. The voice actors were okay, but honestly for Yui's character, I hated the voice. When she cried it sounded like nails ona chalk board and basically just everything about her voice made me wasnt to run and hide. That's not the voice actors fault, though, it's just my opinion. The theme songs weren't really that memorable either. Basically the sound was good, but not great.
Character: The characters were really good. Their backstories were developed well and their personalities were distinct and didn't change throughout the anime which I've noticed happens often in other animes. The only thing I can really criticize is that the romance between Inaba and Taichi was seriously underdeveloped and also Heartseed and Number Two were even more seriously underdeveloped. What were they? How were they related? Where did they come from? Why were they there? How were they doing what they were doing? All questions left unanswered. Perhaps they are answered in the sequel, but I honestly don't care enough to watch the sequel. The characters were great overall, there were just some things that could use a little more background information.
Enjoyment: I did enjoy the drama quite a bit, aside from getting a bit bored with the monotony in it. It was a good anime and I would recommend it.
Overall: Very good
