Review of Plastic Neesan
An elastic schizoid explosion of fun and rapid-fire humor, Plastic Nee-san is a comedic short that delivers on its promise of quick laughs and even quicker punchlines. Any given episode consists of a trio of misfits who find themselves colliding headfirst with those around them, their eccentric personalities guaranteeing comedic mishaps. These cute little girls are the embodiment of pure adrenaline and sucking down one too many sugar packets. Due to the 2-minute runtime, Plastic Nee-san does not have time to waste on padding or slowly setting the stage. Usually, this would work against a title's favor, but for this comedic short, where the intentwas simply to get the audience to laugh, Plastic Nee-san turned this into an opportunity to strike without hesitation. This creates high-octane sight gags, slapstick moments as nutty as anything offered up by 20-minute showings, and the kind of obtuse humor that's only possible thanks to Japan's obsession with always pushing the "weird" factor to unforeseen levels.
Enjoyment: 8.5/10
I couldn't stop laughing, which should be the goal of any comedy. And in that regard, Plastic Nee-san was a success!
Overall: 7.5/10
Plastic Nee-san is an anime that's fully aware of what it wants to do. A comedy that delivers humorous situations with laser-focused accuracy. Cute, to the point, and leaves you with a smile, and with a short time-window that wouldn't impede on anyone curious enough to check it out, it's an easy one to recommend as well.
