Review of Kokoro Connect
To keep this review simple I am going to break this down into one of three categories "the good", "the bad" and "the ugly". That being said without further ado lets get into it. "The good" I find a lot of romcoms dance around character development and often times blueball the audience when it comes to things as simple as kissing. Not so with Kokoro Connect, there's also plenty of moments to keep you on the edge of your seat such as body switching, turning into little kids or acting out desires. There is heartfelt moments, sad moments and endearing moments. Overall this is one of the mostenjoyable romcoms I have watched that has come out in this past decade.
"The bad"
Trying to memorize the characters is an extremely confusing ordeal especially when the body switching starts so early on in the show. Mainly because sometimes they will address each other by their first names and other times their last names.
"The ugly"
This part isnt so much as about the show but the tragedy surrounding the shows potential and success. Back in 2012 some actual adults sat down and thought it was a good idea to play a prank on a newbie staff member by tricking him into thinking he was getting a role on the show. He wasn't, he was going to be a PR manager and travel around Japan promoting the show instead.
Not only that he was made fun of and humiliated in front of thousands of people. There's interviews where a few of the VAs are laughing about this whole matter as well. Unfortunately for Silver Link the Japanese audience was not nearly as amused. This outraged Japans audience so much that the series sold poorly and killed any chance of their being an S2 and this series faded into obscurity as a result.
