If you made it this far in the series and enjoyed what COTE has to offer, then there's no reason not to check this new season out. COTE's anime adaption is a weird one, with how information and monologue heavy the books are, its tricky how to go about actually adapting it. Unfortunately, I think the anime created a different impression than what the novels were trying to portray, but I'd say this new 2nd year adaption feels like a fresh start despite literally being the fourth season. The new animation style while somewhat weird at first, grows a bit on you in contrast to themore stiff animation in previous seasons. It's hard to say if it's inherently a better change, definitely comes down to preference. What could be said however is that it feels somewhat fresh, or at the very least unique. Visuals aside, the overall adaption of the story is certainly a step in the right direction. Immediately getting 4 episodes of the first volume with an overall season of 16 episodes, is a positive start. Although this series certainly needs more time to flesh out its characters and exams, I'd say this season is likely the most reminiscent of the novels compared to prior installments. There is still definitely flaws with the adaption, but it still makes the fun and binge-able experience that most people watching the anime are already used to. This story at the end of the day is watching these characters grow and how Ayanokouji's presence ends up changing them, and I think so far they're doing a decent job.
