Isshou Hatarakitakunai Ore ga Classmate no Daininki Idol ni Natsukaretara · review

6 /10

6.7/10 I’ve been reading a lot of similar manga tropes to this story, so I thought I would’ve loved this. However, this is quite underwhelming for a rom-com. There’s basically no romance and whenever there is, it feels stiff and unnatural to the story, as the romance shouldn’t be developing in said situation. As for the comedy, there’s virtually none or none that’s a smile or chuckle moment at least. The plot is okay, but the characters are probably the most disappointing thing about this manga. The mc is pretty lofty, so there’s not much to say about him; he’s pretty much your average mc thatdoesn’t act like a “loser.” However, the fmc is just a bundle of disappointment each chapter, as she doesn’t have much of a personality besides for being docile and reliant on the mc despite being an idol. I love her design, but she just doesn’t feel human. Like the fmc wasn’t bad enough, the side characters are all female, and you already know what’s going to happen (Love triangle/pentagon).

This isn’t necessarily the worst rom-com out there, but it is rather disappointing, as there’s nothing that makes your heart flutter or be tense. In other words, it’s heavily reliant on its trope.
