Girls Zombie Party · review
If you bought this, you know what and why you are reading it. This is not a deep philosophical story, this is Highschool of the Dead on steroids. This is a story about girls fighting male zombies that are trying to "Fan Service" them. Only males turn into zombies and they have a tentacle come out of their mouths that they like to shove down girl's throats. But before the tentacle gets to the girl's mouth, it is shown to approach from "different angles" to imply it is aiming for a different spot at first. This is a high action manga that at times goso fast that it seems like the author forgot to show certain things happening. There was one part where a though I skipped a page because a character popped up out of nowhere that previously was not there and acted like she was there the whole time even though she was not in any of the previous panels.
This manga also does the same thing as most current Isekai do where it speed runs through events and plot points in the beginning to get to what makes it different from other stories in the genre because we have seen the same intro so many times before that we already know what is going to happen early on. They are fighting zombies in the story before we even fully know each of the characters.
The art is great and really gives the characters personality. I constantly was stopping to admire how the characters look in each panel. I am so happy that this manga knows what it is and does not try to hide it. The expressions on each characters face is drawn very well and you get close ups in all the right "areas".
If you are here for fan service and high action with break neck pacing, this is the manga for you. If you want a manga with good story depth with slower pacing, best look elsewhere because you are not going to find it here. This is about zombies getting their hands, and tentacles, on and all over girls while the girls blow the zombie's heads off. This is a manga where you shut your brain off and look at the wonderful art on full display.
I will absolutely be reading the entire series as it comes out in English.
