A 19 yo gets sold off to the yakuza by his brother as debt collateral, he’s basically now the property of this yakuza group and then gets assigned to take care of the “right-hand” (love interest) of the group’s head. I want to say, for it being an official translation by manga planet, the translation was pretty bad, with some dialogue making no sense or kind of obviously was machine translated with no care for how some things cannot be literally translated. Spoilers ahead. It may be I was too stressed when I read this manga, but after ch 4, every page just annoyed me more. I guessthe first 4 chapters were ok, just some dumb fun, but ch 5? I fucking hated chapter 5.

From beginning to end it was some extreme tomfoolery if I’ve ever read some. The brother thing made no fucking sense, why would they agree to let him talk to Tsubame (MC) for him to just berate MC relentlessly and basically tell him he deserved to be sold off and other fucked up shit? and the MC’s body guard said nothing, even after it was explained this guy loves violence and getting into fights? So stupid.

We were also left in a big cliffhanger in ch 4 involving the love interest, and suddenly everything’s fine and just “oh hehe things are not so serious te-he”, even after all the buildup in previous chapters!!

And the way the main characters relationship just went romantic? Really? A chapter for the romance to really develop and take off? All in one single chapter and an extra?

I feel like the mangaka had planned a slow burn type relationship for the main characters AND for the yakuza part to be more serious and dramatic, but probably the story got axed after ch 4 and they just wrapped it up even if it didn’t make for the best writing. Not that I’m saying the writing was god from the beginning, but it definitely took a dive after ch 4. Maybe I’m just delusional and the story was shit from the beginning, but it’s jarring how the story was ok and then it got pretty bad.

Also, that extra where they finally fuck, I swear I would have preferred the story stayed sexless. That sex scene was not good, not terrible, I just would have rather it did not exist.

Another thing that bothered me endlessly was how Tsubame forgives his brother, even when his brother showed ZERO remorse, not even a hint of any positive change. I hated the inclusion of the brother in the story, if he was going to continue being a raging evil asshole I don't understand why include him as a character with dialogue. Don’t understand the author’s intent with that plot line.

This story was a major let-down, specially since I love another story from this same author. I was excited to see what they were going to do with this somewhat cliched plot line, and well, I guess now I know.
