Review of A Lull in the Sea
More than a review, this is a love letter. I watched this anime 11 years ago when it aired. Back then I thought it was a masterpiece. I just didn't know how much of a masterpiece it really was. Watching it again as an adult was a whole new experience, and adding the fact that so much time has passed, it was like I was watching it again for the first time because I didn't remember a single thing. After living life for so many years, the story hit in a different way and I'm sure I watched it from a totally new perspective. Thisanime tells its story in a beautifu and heartfelt way.You can feel all the love that was poured into making it. The characters go through so much: happines, desperation, sadness, anguish- and the way I could relate now in a way I couldn't 11 years ago, made it a heart-wrencing yet enticing and beautiful experience.
Adding on top of that a breath-taking world building, and a visually-stunning art style, made watching the episodes go by quickly, and I found myself just wanting more. I just wanted to get to the happy ending I knew this series had, all the while enjoying how the characters were growing and in a way, growing with them.
I have so much to say, but I'l just leave it at this: watch it. You will cry, but you will love every second of it.
