Review of Blue Period

I LOVE this anime. In fact i think they need to make another season of it. The reason why i love it is because it is different. No fantasy, no tragic, no drama, no romance. This show focus on art, and how much it can drain you physically and emotionally. It also shows how people over come it. How easily we can be to be affected by other people's comments. Realistically, no matter how you love art. It is not something society thinks you can get a job with. Now a days everyone plays safe, going to business school, engineering, IT, things people aren't interestedin but forced to choose because they can find job easier that way.

Why I find this anime relatable because, I am one of those people.. I loved art. I use to love drawing, it was an escape, a hobby. But i stopped, I became depressed. Exams made me so stress, I wasn't confident at all, I kept comparing myself to other people. I am pathetic. No matter how wonderful art can be.. Expectations of yourself kills. Especially if you do not have friends or family that support you like the characters in the anime show support for the male lead.

The male lead was experiencing all of these stress and emotions, especially being a total beginner in art. It gets depressing for someone who has been doing art for years, let alone a complete beginner. This anime showed things that i can never do for myself. Courage, perseverance, believing in yourself even if you do not have the confidence. Such wonderful raw emotions and experience. I don't know what other people are expecting saying it is a waste of time. But i think this anime is perfect as it is..

Its a fact that art students stress over their work so much that it can lead to emotional break down. Shattered confidence. As pathetic and over dramatic as it sounds. Its real. But what we do not see is that, it is OK to be pathetic. Just do whatever you can, there is no perfection in art, it is how you view your art to be perfect. STOP comparing yourself with other people. Every drawing/ painting is a masterpiece of its own. We are so blinded with expectations of ourselves that we do not see that. I feel that this anime would help me so much when i was struggling a few years back.. None the less, no regrets. I need to accept myself with or without art in my life. I love and enjoy art still, visually.
