Review of Gushing over Magical Girls

I guess it was to be expected that I’d give this anime a high rating. There’s a lot of fan service and ecchi, plus it’s a comedy with minimal drama and I really love that kind of thing. But the problem is that the story itself is completely useless/uninteresting, so the characters don’t evoke any sympathy or interest either. The jokes are pretty weak, and honestly, I can’t recall a single moment that genuinely made me laugh. It’s hard not to compare it with Interspecies Reviewers, where the jokes are better and the characters feel alive and memorable. Magical Girl Reincarnation is watchable, but it feelsvery clumsy and boring. Even the author seemed to realize this in one of the dialogues, the characters directly mention how dull and uninteresting their conversations are. On the positive side, I can at least mention the art, it is decent. Although personally, I found the character faces a bit too random. Sometimes that’s part of the artistic style, but here it felt more like they just tried to make them look different somehow. The result is what it is. Neither the plot nor the design feels like it follows any clear direction.

That said, I really liked that there are no male characters in the anime at all, and there are some good sex scenes. However, I don’t get why they don’t censor breasts but still censor other parts.
It's bearable, but I can't recommend it, even though I'm the target audience.
