Review of Dan Da Dan

.......ok.....I've been trying to refrain from using this phrase anymore.... but I feel like it's appropriate for this series.... so I'm only gonna say this once...... HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY BALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is the OTHER best anime of 2024! I am SO unbelievably shocked that I wound up loving this as much as I did, and that a show like this even exists in the first place. All I knew going into it was that it was considered to be a spiritual successor to Fooly Cooly. I'm honestly not super crazy about that series, but now I'm wondering if rewatching it now will give me a better appreciation ofit. Right from the start, I was absolutely blown away. My jaw hit the floor and would NOT retract the entire time! It should honestly be ILLEGAL at this point to consider animation as "not real art/cinema" or whatever when something like THIS exists.

This first episode should be in a museum for just how unbelievably gorgeous and spectacular every single frame of animation is! Seriously, it's unbelievably legendary and just OOZES personality and flare from beginning to end! The characters are all phenomenal, too! Momo and Okarun are such fantastic leads and I love seeing their relationship blossom over the course of the series. They remind me so much of me and my only friend in high school, so it's giving me a lot of warm fuzzies in that department, as well. And the storylines are all REALLY stinkin solid. Not just with the main cast, but the episodic characters are all SO much deeper than I was expecting! Nothing feels rushed or too slow, but at the same time I'm frothing at the mouth for more because it's all been so stinkin fantastic so far! Thankfully a second season has already been confirmed and I hope it just continues this momentum, because HOLY COW. Absolute masterpiece in every way, shape and form... except for the ending theme which was god awful.
