This anime gave me nostalgia for something I've never experienced before. At the beginning, I didn't think the show was for me and I was right but that's never really turned me off and thank goodness because by the end I felt like I had spent a Japanese childhood in the 90s loving unpopular anime movies. There were a few times in the middle where I really hoped they were going somewhere with it and I think they delivered, at least for me. One nice thing about a work that is based off "bad media" is that any minor failures can be attributed to homage.
