Review of Redo of Healer

Yeah this show sucks ass, not gonna lie. It’s so unworthy of getting a wholehearted review from me. Even some of the elements that make it “controversial” or “edgy” are even underwhelming. Its literally just to titillate the viewer but since it's not a porno,it doesn't have any effect on me as a normal and functioning member of society. I think studio TNK is objectively one of the worst anime studios of all time because they’ve been a thing for 20 years and the only “good” show that they did was Highschool DxD and everything else is crap. What is there to say on atechnical level? The designs are trashy, the animation is subpar, and the only people i have respect for are the voice actors with the cringe lines they have to deliver..

Alright, I think it's time to address the elephant in the room. The most disgusting ,vile, and most shocking thing that this anime truly should be cancelled over:t he storywriting.

REDO THIS AWEFUL STORY
The writing in Redo of a Healer is one of those things that feels offensive to anyone with a functioning brain. Not only is it really uninspired, and sloppily put together, but also just rips out every trope of the self insert fantasy magazine and just sloppily glues it on its ugly and blandass piece of construction paper,You want your oppressed furry girl? You got it.You want your dude with powers to redo time? You got it.You want your demon lord? Sure why not,there are events thats get built up to and immediately dont mean a thing afterwards, characters are forced by the story itself to be really dumb, and not only that,but almost every girl just becomes a mobile talking fleshlight* Even the main theme which is the “revenge” is so minor, and the main character talks about revenge but you never see him progress and plot out his revenge,he just does it,the sexy bits happen, and immediately you're thrown head first into “Starting Sword Art Life in Another Shield Hero Death March World from Zero with My Smartphone”.

Im convinced that if you cut out all of the sexy bits, this show would be an afterthought.The magic system makes no sense.The thing with MC-kun at the beginning is that he has healing powers,but after some other stuff,his powers literally just do whatever they want.From heal to kill to erase memories, it does it all.Inconsistency at its finest.
And even still if it's trying to just be a hentai and not worry bout the plot, it still wants to have enough plot to be a 12 ep anime, but every story beat it takes, it fails at.The story is told similarly to rezero where the main character repeats different lives,but what is so messy is that the structure takes moments from each of those worlds and just intermingle them between each other and as a result, the scenes whiplash so quickly you don't know what you're watching. One moment you could see the protag doing mundane stuff and the other scene could be a prolonged sequence of abuse and humiliation porn starring the main character. And even the most important parts of its story is super hard to understand because the scenes are so jumbled. I have seen ACTUAL hentai more graphic than this have a better plot, i swear hand over heart, I know i am exposing myself right now, but to be honest i would rather strip down to my undies and bend over doggy style if it means i can distract you enough that you wont want to watch this show.This review is not just a review, but a warning, im genuinely trying to save your life here.

The one thing that this show does make me feel was absolute envy towards asexual people, because even if i experience the sex scenes that result from the shit writing,shit pacing, and awful characters, i still feel some arousal which technically makes me somewhat invested in this trash show.
Not gonna lie, when the main character was getting plowed by the tall and bulky black guy, I had a hard-on no doubt, but the worst part comes(pun-intended)afterwards when the actual plot kicks in. I mean , lets face it, this show isnt a hentai, its an “anime”, with 12 episodes, if characters were doing nothing but having sex for those 12 episodes, im pretty sure the animators would blow all their budget away. So as a result the creator had to fill in whatever they could with a plot but its an amalgamation of both shitty harem fantasy harem tropes and incoherrent story structure. And when my boner wore off, i felt so bored and pissed off looking at the mc’s evil face and seeing the animated blow up dolls falling for him because he has a peen that pokes them three times a day, i literally felt my body sink into the floor.I transcended all laws of matter and became a liquid, thats how bad this writing was.

CHARACTERS I GUESS..
Lemme pour some facts right now, okay, i have seen my fair share of dark and traumatic scenes in my life,and im not saying that to brag but just to prove how i determine how depicted sexual violence can and cannot be handled well.A revenge story like this is not captivating because of how many messed up things there are, its captivating because it's happening to a character you are invested in.We can look at any girl or guy get murdered but if that person happens to be someone you are familiar with, it makes those moments all the more impactful.Now, with that in mind,, hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boy these characters….

that is redeeming.

I loathe this character with such a passion, the only people who will enjoy him on screen are either highkey misogynists, 12 year old edglords,or people who think hes badass because he gets poontang,poontag that he treats like talking fleshlights.Most of the time he is on screen, hes either being a shitty Grade C Naofumi, or just having sex with girls because, this is an “anime”. I should clear up, the fact he “Grapes'' people and does awful things is not the reason I hate him. It's just that he does all these things and thats about all the show has to offer. Even then ,the show still wants to make him look like a victim which is just awful writing at its finest.There are plots that go into his sister being assaulted and his village is ransacked,some random shop vendor he went to gets killed or some shit...and show makes him the “woe is me “ person, but after all of the awful events he's done, i couldn't give a shit if he died in a forest fire, And as a result, the show just gets so boring and manipulative.”oh no this person he liked died, you see that audience...FEEL BAD 4 HIM”

The main thing about these characters is that the reason why they are so damn loathesome, is because the story says so.Since character writing is too damn hard, the story desperately throws in a bunch of traumatic things.But when you look at why these things need to happen, the story just falls apart.Not that it was put together to begin with.

Why is the princess a crazy person? Because we need trauma.

Why does almost every character the main character interacts with a sex offender? Because we need trauma

Why is the main character getting “Scraped” the only thing people do to get magic from him when there are more humane ways?Because we need trauma

Why is the princess seen as a crazy person for assaulting people,possessing drugs, and having slaves when the main character does the same thing? Because he's an anime protagonist ,duh, he has to bang all the women.

Why is MC addicted to drugs and then he is just not anymore?BECAUSE WE NEEED THE TRAUMA

And to play devil's advocate for a minute, I need point out that “maybe the goodness in this story comes from the fact that the characters are supposed to be bad people and the assault and violence in this show is supposed to be raw and gritty, kinda like dorohedoro,so it's interesting and that makes it good. right?”

Kay, devil’s advocate playtime is over because this defense right here is such a weakass way to defend the writing in this show.

First of all, assuming that this show is supposed to be some kinda commentary on how evil human beings can be is assuming that the show focuses on its characters, it doesn't. They are all there to move the plot along, the show doesnt explore their mindsets or why they act the way they do, they just do.If someone is a dumb and crazy person, they are like that just to make the main character not look as dumb and crazy
.Secondly since the shows messy structure makes characters pop up on screen for even meer seconds before you can remember them, the character interaction gets shot in the foot
.And thirdly,the gritty and raw things about the show arent gritty or raw if its obviously fetishized.

LETS FACE IT.
This show is fetishization. because if it wasnt, the scenes wouldnt be lasting for so long, and the amount of R rated nudity and cringey sex talk would not be as excessive.Speaking of fetishzation, its also a romantization as well. The show gets off on its "revenge sex" aspect so much that it is straight up masturbatory.It deals with or describes “Tape” and sexual assault in an idealized or unrealistic fashion since the characters in the situation are not mentally affected after it happens and even appear to enjoy it; and it makes sexual abuse seen as something that is kinda fucked up,BUT its portrayed in such a fetishized way thus making it more appealing than it really is.Which is also the clear definition of,drum roll please, “romaticization”.
.And even with the violence, it is pretty tame.The gore is Kings Game the animation where there are people exploding in blood and breaking bones.

REDO MY LIFE.
Fetishized “Crepe” porn, i guess is an okay thing if it was a hentai, but the show wants to try to be more than that but it fails at both.This anime is like the equivalent of Fifty Shades of Grey, in which its whole gimmick is that it wants to be risque and taboo,but it still wants to get money from a general audience so it also markets itself as an anime.But since the plot for it sucks ass and the sex scenes arent full on and nothing to write home about (aside the fact that its goofy af sometimes)the show as a whole just seems like a waste of time.If anything, like fifty shades of gray, the show does accomplish one thing:getting a crapton of people making it popular enough to be in the top ten most watched anime that season.More members than Beastars season 2, honestly that makes me depressed
.But i'm glad that the majority of the anime community is just treating this show as one big meme, the only people taking this shit seriously are youtubers who need their views(which is fine,i respect that), or edgelords who think that a story about “revenge” is something deep.

I just cant be fucked to take anything about this show seriously since its as tasteful as a silicon buttplug.This is obviously a case of a show that's only gimmick is "lol we have people getting sexually assaulted and humiliated, bet that turns you on". And as a result some of the fans of this show are just grasping at straws to defend this show and act like it has something profound to say. But there is just nothing here. This aint it, chief.
If you like this show and think I'm attacking you, don't worry because I'm not. I'm just using how vocal some of you are as validity to how impressionable people can get due to how successful a publicity stunt like this show was. Its just theatrical porn at the end of the day, that's it. If you like it , that's fine, but I hope you are smart enough to realize that just because you like something, doesn’t mean it's good. Yikes, that sounded a bit harsh but i hope you get what i'm saying.

This is a weird time to explain this but,fuck it. I don’t usually just give out 3/10 or below scores willy nilly, i am the type of person who enjoys a good dumpster fire if its fun, its just that this anime along with the others i've gave this score,are just cases of anime that are substanceless and genuinely do not have enough there in order for me to mildly like it.The worst thing you can do to an audience is bore them, and even in the case of redo, if there are some steamy scenes,rated r violence, and dumb dialogue, its just not enough for make up for being both messy and boring.Yeesh, i need to do more positive reviews in the future.
